Sara was a housewife. It is said that Sallie was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian. There is no documentation of this yet. After the death of Benjamin, Sallie lived in a log house. Nearby, her son, Benjamin "Frank" and his family lived in another log house. Sallie succumbed to cancer in 1892.

Her middle name could be Elizabeth instead of Jane.

From a story written by Ovid Dayton Hopkins, the following was taken: Arthur Dayton Hopkins told to his son Ovid Dayton Hopkins this story of his great grandfather, Benjamin Franklin (Frank) Hopkins. When Arthur Dayton was a young man, he remembered his grandfather would come to visit. He remembered himas a tall man who was part Cherodee Indian, that he had real white hair and beard, and very high cheek bones. He carried himself straight as an arrow even as an old man. He carried an eagle quill in a long silver container and that it was used to pick his teeth after each meal. He lived to be 81 years old, a long time for people of his generation.
