B. D. worked for the B. F. Avery Plow Company in Dallas at the time Waneva was born. During World War II he worked for his Uncle, W. W. Shepperd, in Brownwood, Texas, cleaning clothes for the soldiers stationed at Camp Bowie. He later moved his family to Temple, Texas where he worked for various Dry Cleaners, including his Uncle Will Shepperd.

Virginia taught school until her marriage. When she was 31 she became crippled with rheumatoid arthritis and spent 27 years in a wheelchair. She was very talented and did beautiful oil paintings. In her younger days she sang at weddings and funerals. She attended Wayland Baptist College and Texas Tech University.

Willis (Phil) was in the Marine Corps for 9 years and served during the Korean Conflict. He got out of the Marine Corps in 1957 and attended Temple Junior College for 1 year. He then enlisted in the Army and served in the Vietnam War earning numerous medals, including the Bronze Star. He retired from the Army in 1969 and moved his family to Idaho. He got his pilot's license and commercial ratings. He taught at several airports and also flew charter flights. He was killed in the crash of a DC-3 which he was not flying.

J.J. & Sarah came to Texas from Tennessee about 1886. J.J. had been in Texas selling peach trees & liked the country. He moved his family from Collierville to Oenaville. Sarah called him "Jonce". In 1903, they bought 225 acres of land 3 1/2 miles east of Temple, Texas. The family attended the First Baptist Church in Temple, where J.J. served as a deacon. In 1918, their son Joe & wife Georgia bought the farm. 71 acres remained in the Hill family until it was sold after Georgia Hill's death in 1981.
