The Dunn family came to Texas from Alabama in a wagon when Luther was a baby. Rebecca Lavonia took care of him and most of the way he sat on her lap. They arrived at Prairie Dell, Texas and soon moved on to Holland, Texas. After Nancy's death Solomon lived with Rebecca Lavonia until she was widowed. He then moved to Troy and lived with Ora until his death at age 92. He visited often with Rebecca Lavonia at her daughter's home after he moved to Troy.

Lavonia Stuart remembers: "I thought Aunt Sarah was a big woman -- she seemed so to me as a child. After I grew up I only saw her in a chair or in bed. Aunt Sarah lived with Beulah in Holland across the street from Aunt Lizzy and Uncle Jerry. She had beautiful snow white hair.
