Individual Note: DEATH: 15 yrs old. Died from tuberculosis, Edwards County, Illinois. Source of his birth and date given on his death certificate which needs to be relocated. Also, after his parents William H. Hocking and Laura J. Hocking, died, Elizabeth Sarah Hocking and her husband Scott Stone raised William. Charles Thread on 17 Jun 1968 told Edith Colyer that he is buried by Elizabeth Sarah Hocking Stone but has no stone. HOWEVER, notice that these parents did not die before William. Need to resolve problem.
PROBATE COURT: Edwards Co., Illinois, Box 51, Probate Court Records. Receipt dated June 9, 1887. Received of J. S. Stone, Guardian of William H. Hocking, the sum of 12 Dollars for 7 weeks board and 5 weeks washing and making 3 shirts and two Pair Drawers. Signed by Cynthia A. Hocking.

Individual Note: NAME: On the marriage certificate of daughter Mattie, it looks like Terella Whittaker or Whittier; just about impossible to read. Ancestry has Mattie Hocking b. 13 Mar 1882 as child of Samuel A. Montgomery and Priscilla Whitaker. Elizabeth Rittenhouse Lamb read her name on another source as Lovella or Louella, she questioned if either was right, though.
