Note for:   Thomas Tyner,   ABT 1827 -          Index

Individual Note:
1830 CENSUS: This census for McNairy Co., Tennessee, does not show a male child born in the last three years to Thomas' parents.

1850 CENSUS: This census for Benton Co., Tennessee, shows Thomas was 23 years of age.

TO DO: Where did middle name "Mimms" come from? What source? Is this a mistake?

PARENTS: Thomas Tyner was found in the same county as Judith Rittenhouse's 2nd great grandfather John W. Tyner and his brother William H. Tyner, Jr. There are only a few Tyners of that generation found in all of Benton Co., TN, at that time 1850-1870.

MARRIAGE: Vol. 2, Marriages 1846-1851 for Benton Co., TN. This and Marriages Jan 1866-Aug 1869 on Film 557,642 in the Family History Library.

Note for:   Sarajane or Jane Tyner,   ABT 1830 -          Index

Individual Note:
BIRTH: 1850 Census in Benton Co., TN, lists Jane as 29 and born in Tenn. Although some people believe Sarajane Tyner was a child of Dempsey b. 1755 and Obedience Tyner, she was more likely a child of William H. Tyner, b. 1790-1800/ She lived in Benton Co., Tenn., along with John W. Tyner, Thomas Tyner, and William H. Tyner, probably her brothers. "Note: The Jane Tiner/Tyner listed in the 1850 Census for Benton Co., TN as age 29 (living with Dennis Barnes, Sr. and his wife Amy) would have been born abour 1821. She would have been about 9 years old in an 1830 Census. Jane Tiner's age doesn't seem to fit the other daughter of William H. Tyner, Sr. who was between 0-5 years old in 1830 or born between 1825-1830 unless her age was incorrectly listed on the 1850 Census. (This Jane Tiner should have been about 19-20 years old for the 1840 Census - where was this Jane Tiner living in 1840? She would have been about 39-40 for the 1860 Census - where was this
Jane Tiner living in 1860? )

"NOTE: Who was the Sarajane Tyner born about 1830 in TN, living with Mary Ann Barnes (the widow of Davis W. Barnes), and married 21 Feb 1861 to W. Camp in Benton Co., TN? I am still looking for a possible 2nd daughter of William H. Tyner, Sr. who would have been born between 1825-1830, and who would have been 0-5 years old in the 1830 Census. If this Sarajane Tyner was born in 1830 before the census was taken, then she might be the 2nd daughter of Wm. H. Tyner, Sr. In that case, I would have to eliminate the Jane Tiner just discussed in the above note as the possible 2nd daughter of Wm. H. Tyner, Sr. If however, this Sarajane Tyner was not born until after the 1830 Census, then Ann and Jane Tiner are probably the 2 daughters of Wm. H. Tyner, Sr. as listed
in the 1830 Census. This would leave Sarajane as a daughter born after 1830 just as the son, Thomas Tynber, was apparently born after the 1830 Census. (Sarajane Tyner would have been about 20 in 1850. Where was she living in 1850?)

"Possible conclusion for the second daughter: Could Jane Tiner listed as 29 in the 1850 Census actually be 19 in 1850 with an error in her age by the census taker? Thus being Jane Tiner age 19 born about 1831. Then, could this Jane Tiner be the same person as the Sara Jane Tyner age 30 in 1860 being born about 1830 and who would have been about 31 when she married W. Camp in 1861 in Benton Co., TN? The names: Jane and Sarajane could both apply to the same person born about 1830-1831 and therefore this is the 2nd daughter of Wm. H. Tyner, Sr. with Ann Tiner being the first daughter and he only has 2 daughters and not 3 daughters.??? This daughter would have been about 10 years old in 1840 - where was she living in 1840?"
