Text: . . . IN THE DAYS OF OUR GRANDFATHERS A well preserved relic in the form of a marriage certificate was brought to the Journal-Register office by Mr. Frank Chism. The contracting parties were grandparents of Mr. Chism, and the officials are well known (sic) names in Albion:
State of Illinois, Edwards Co. ---
I do hereby certify that the banns of matrimony was (sic) solemnized between the within named Elisha Chism and Hester Thread on the first day of January, A.D. 1834, agreebly to the laws of this state.
