Text: Page 1 . . . Clarinda Dacus Lamb, a daughter of Paschal and Amanda, lost her husband, Robert Marshall Lamb, in an accident at the gin where he worked. He was caught in the machinery and was beheaded. Clarinda was pregnant at the time of his death and had her baby, Robert Marshall lamb, Jr. - Uncle Bob Lamb - a few months after her husband died. She later married a Winn and had children by him. Uncle Bob was raised by his grandparents Paschal and Amanda Dacus. He was age 14 when both grandparents died. Therefore, I feel his information as to his grandmother's maiden name of O'Dell is correct. . .

Text: James McDonald Tyner, known as "Jim", was born to John Wiley and Lucinda Barnes Tyner on 15 Nov 1861 in Benton Co., Tenn., the seventh of ten children. Jim's mother Lucinda Barnes was born on 27 July 1824 in Tennessee to Dennis and Amy Barnes of Stewart Co. and McNairy Co., Tennessee. On 7 Nov 1861, just eight days before Jim's birth, his father, John Wiley Tyner, had enlisted in the Confederate Army in Benton Co., Tennessee. He served in Conf T-49 Tenn. Pvt. Co. I, 49th Reg. John and Lucinda moved their family from Benton Co., Tennessee, about 1870-1871. The family was very poor and Jim got his first pair of shoes at the age of 9. he walked a pailing fence and was so excited he ripped the soles off of them shortly after he got them. So he was barefoot again. James McDonald Tyner, known as Jim, and Sarah Ann Cupp were married on May 14 1882 in Lorado Township, Greene Co., Arkansas, when she was about 14 years old. Sarah Ann Cupp had been born on 15 October 1867 in Greene Co., Arkansas, to Henry and Margret Dennis was 4 November 1845 in Arkansas to Robert John and Elenor Thompson Dennis. Margret married Henry in 1866 and died on 17 December 1869 when Sarah Ann was just about two years old. Jim and Sarah Ann Cupp Tyner raised their family near Walcott with all of their children being born there in Greene Co. Three of their sons died in infancy: John Franklin, born 18 December 1888 and died 19 February 1890; James William, born 6 March 1894 and died 26 March 1894; and an infant who died on his birth day on 5 February 1899. Their son Henry Virgil was born on 2 Feb 1885 in Walcott and Married Carrie Hannah Robb on 6 March 1904 in Walcott. He graduated from Louisville University of Medicine and practiced on Lorado and Spring Grove; Clinton. Oklahoma; Carlsbad, New Mexico; and Paragould. He died in Paragould at the age of 33 years on 14 January 1918. There were five girls born to Jim and Sarah Ann. Lucinda Adeline, their firstborn, was born on 6 August 1883 and died 7 September 1883. Four of the daughters grew to adulthood. Nora Lee was bron 16 December 1886; she married Thomas Clayborn Potter on 18 December 1910. Bessie Jane was bron 30 April 1895; she married William Fletcher on 23 July 1918. Viva Demetra was born 29 January 1904; she married(1) William Leonard Wilcoxson on 31 July 1923 and (2) John Marshall Nutt on 10 August 1941. When Sarah Ann Cupp Tyner's father Henry Cupp died in 1895, Jim got his start by paying $1000 for Henry Cupp's livestock brand. Jim then herded the unbranded cattle and the pigs that had been roaming around breeding for years in the "bottoms." Jim and his men caught all they could to brand but could not stay any longer. There was water down there that came way up over the horses' hooves. Most of the writing in the Tnyer Family Bible was in the hand of James McDonald Tyner. The children never saw their mother's handwriting. Once Sarah Ann taught her husband Jim how to write, she stopped writing, saying she was tired of writing. Jim went on to be the president of two banks, one of them Walcott bank. An article from the Jonesboro, Arkansas, newspaper when James McDonald Tyner moved to Jonesboro. Mrs. Tyner was 80 years old then and they were celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary. "Mr. Tyner is a retired general merchant. He has extensive farm interests and is a member of the Fisher Street Baptist Church as is Mary Tyner." Sarah Ann died 20 march 1952 in Jonesboro, Craighead Co., Arkansas. They are buried together at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Text: When Connie was four years old, she knew Uncle ___ who was cousin of Grandpa Tyner and had kids named Willie and Alan and a girl. Willie married one of the Dennis women.
Grandpa Tyner had a sister Annie and a brother John who lived in Texas. Annie never had much and lived back and forth with Grandpa Tyner and kids, etc., for a circuit. She was raw-boned and had beautiful thick curly hair.
Grandpa (James McDonald Tyner) was very tall. Uncle Fate was really large but very caring, honest, etc.--bigger than Dale. Rosamond visited and Connie remembers her as a young girl. Rosamond stayed quite a while with Grandpa.

General Source: S75Note: Sarah A. was just 15 years old when she married Jim Tyner, even thought it looks like the census taker wrote she was age 28. "Margie M." is Maggie Mae. Henry and Labe are half-brothers to Sarah A. Cupp Tyner. Henry should be age 23 and Laborn should be age 19 during 1910. James M. Tyner's occupation is listed as President of a Bank. He owns his home free of mortgage and it is a home (not a farm).

Text: The Tyner Family Bible
The James McDonald Tyner and Sarah Ann (Cupp) Tyner Family Bible is in the possession of their daughter, Maggie May Tyner Potter (Mrs. T. C. Potter, 602 West Oak Street, Jonesboro, Craighead, Arkansas. The family record sheets in the middle of the bible had been torn out and were loose. Some of the pages were torn in half with parts missing. The original writing was in the handwriting of James McDonald Tyner. Some of the names and dates were written by several different persons, who had tried to copy the faded original writing. I copied all pages, original and copies, on June 6, 1977.
