Text: HISTORY: Roy Barnes taught school in Benton County, Tennessee until he entered in the U.S. Army in 1917. He served in World war I. Vera was a housewife. They had two children, Alba LeRoy Branes and James Andrew Barnes.

Text: I came across some records (maybe in the IGI) where someone had obviously misread David Sr.'s (Ross Sr.'s brother) will and had included the names of the slaves he willed his daughters as part of the daughters' names. "to my daughter Lydia Alis and her increase, etc." The clerk had left off all the punctuation.
