Text: After an illness of almost one year Miss May Rittenhouse, daughter of Judge and Mrs. A. J. Rittenhouse, died at the home of her parents on Ninth Street at 8 o'clock Tuesday evening.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. A. Cravens at the Rittenhouse residence Wednesday afternoon and the body was followed by a large train of sorrowing friends to the West Cemetery.
Miss Rittenhouse was an amiable young lady and last year was one of the teachers of our city schools.
Last May she assumed editorial control of the Tribune, during the absence of Mr. Smith, which work she prosecuted until July when she became very ill.
Since that time she has several times been very near death's door. Sometimes animated with hope and again subject to weeks of severe illness.
Miss Rittenhouse was a bright winsome girl and had acquired a host of friends who now extend to the bereaved family their heartfelt sympathy.

Text: "...The Rittenhouse who abandoned or gave up for adoption his children, would have had to have been a brother to our Frank Austin Rittenhouse. It could have been Robert Ray Rittenhouse. We don't know that there were children in the plural. We only know that there was one male child for certain who was about mother's age when her father said that she couldn't date this person because he was a first cousin. Robert Ray Rittenhouse was married to Gladys McMurdo in 1920 and then they divorced. Could they have had one child before they divorced and neither one was willing to raise the child and gave him up for adoption? If it wasn't Robert Ray Rittenhouse, then could it have been their sister, May Maria Rittenhouse? She supposedly 'grieved herself to death' - over what? However, she died in 1904 so if she had had an illegitimate son in 1904, this son would have been 14 years older than mother - so that doesn't seem to work. I think it must have been Robert Ray Rittenhouse who had at least one son that was adopted outside of the family. What do you think?.."

Dear Ms. Rittenhouse:
Indeed, the 45th Infantry Division was not organized until 1923. The 45th Infantry Brigade came into being after the 45th Division was deactivated in 1968.
By law we can have no personnel records here. If your uncle was mobilized then his records will be maintained at the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis Mo. The link below will get you to their site. Follow the links to the SF - 180 (Request for Military Personnel Records).
Please be advised that a fire at that facility in 1973 destroyed 80% of the WWII records, and some WW1 records.
If you know in which county of what State he lived in after the war, you might contact the county seat and inquire if he filed a copy of his documents there. All soldiers are encouraged to do so.
Good luck,

Subject: Robert Ray Rittenhouse
Dear Mr. Gonzales,
I have been researching one of my grand uncles whose World War I Draft Registration Card said he was a Private in the Oklahoma National Guard, serving as a law clerk in the State of Oklahoma’s Adjutant General’s Office on 6-5-1917. I was trying to find out more about Robert Ray Rittenhouse’s National Guard Unit and thought it might be the 45th Infantry Brigade. I found the history of that unit and from that I see that the 45th Infantry Division was not organized until 1923. Robert was living in Chandler, Oklahoma, in 1917, and his obituary said he saw service overseas for the war. I’d love to know where he served overseas, etc. Any help you can give me in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely yours,
Judith Rittenhouse
