Text: Ephraim F. Barnes (1880-1959) and Bevie Ellen Pierce (1894-1986) were married 3/11/09. They lived in Benton County all their lives. Ephraim was the son of James Henderson Barnes (1845-1931) and Angeline Lewis Barnes (1849-1911). James Henderson was a Civil War veteran and a Methodist Minister. Ephraim's grandfather was Henry Barnes (1810-1857) and grandmother was Susan Wyatt Barnes. Henry was one of the founders of Liberty Methodist Church near Holladay in1854. His great grandfather was Dennis Barnes born in 1765 in S.C. After Angeline died James Henderson married Malissa Holland Jordan (1858-1931). James Henderson, Angeline, Malissa, Ephraim, and Bevie are buried in Liberty Cemetery. Ephraim had three brothers, Aaron, Johnny and Willie and 5 sisters, Malissa, Belle, Narcis, Mary and Sarah. E. F. was a farmer.
Bevie was the daughter of James Martin Pierce (1857-1925) and Elizabeth Angeline Swindell (1864-1930). She had 3 sisters, Daisy, Covia, and Tolia. Her paternal grandparents were James Mac Pierce (1828-1904) and Louticia Nowell Pierce (1836?). Louticia's parents were Cullen Nowell and Cynthia Nowell (1814-1883). Her material (sic) grandparents were Asae Swindell (1842-1919) and Louellen Smith Swindell (1844-1928). Bevie was a good seamstress and sewed for family and friends.
Ephraim and Bevie were the parents of 6 children: Theodore (6/25/10-4/21/86) married Vernie Sarratt (12/6/10-3/18/78). They had a daughter Blondell (5/27/32).
Leonard (1/3/13) married Irene Wimberly (2/21/16). They had two sons, Mark (2/21/43) and David (2/14/50).
Jewell (2/12/16) married Elmer Smith (5/13/03)-7/30/88). They had no children.
Lorene (10/19/18-5/7/87 married J. Hugh Johnson (2/9/11-12/30/74). They had 3 children, Jean (10/26/34), Timothy (12/20/44) and Linda (10/30/48).
Nellodene (5/7/23) married Harold Medlin (6/11/21). They had 4 children, Sandra (7/3/42), Sue (12/22/43), David (5/22/52) and Dale (ll/17/60).
Naomi (1/27/26) married Leland Butler (2/11/28). They had 2 children, Paul (7/11/58) and Ruth (1/18/60).
