6. The said Mary Cup was the child of Michael (sic) born on 1740 at N.C. died at Wilkes Co., Ga. on 1821 and his wife Barbara Layle born on 1745 at . . . died at Wilkes Co., Ga. on 1820 married on 1769.
Had child Mary Cupp, born 1787, Wilkes Co., Georga, died 1882 and married 1800 to Lazarus Summerlin, born 1774 Wilkes Co., Goeria, died 1856. Proof #472366; Wilkes Co., Georgia, Early Records (Davidson), Vol. 1, p. 16, 33, 239-40, 243, 291; Vol. II, p. 21, 79, 96 & 101. Takes line on down to Ann Howell.
Ancestor's Services: Michael Cup (sic) place of residence during Revolution was (N. C.) Wilkes Co., Goergia. "Michael Cup served about 7 years in the Revolutionary War, was away from home 3 years continuously. His certificate of service was signed by Col. Elijah Clark whose command was made up of men from Wilkes & Richmond Co., Georgia, 1779. In 1795 he was granted 287-1/2 acres of land in Franklin Co., Georgia. In 1799 he was granted an additional 287-1/2 acres of land in Franklin Co., Georgia.
Michael Cup was engaged in the Battle of Monmouth. His brother, Sergt. Henry Cup, also served under Col. Elijah Clark." [p. 49, 219, 379 of Knight's Roster of Georgia Soldiers.]
