      Walter's paternal ancestor, John Reed (1729-1790) served in the Revolutionary War, his son Benjamin Reed/Reid (1782-1864) was in the War of 1812, married in Kentucky, Mary, daughter of Revolutionary War soldier Garrison Prall of New Jersey. Benjamin and Mary (Prall) Reid and their 6 sons, Dr. Caleb, John, Benjamin P., Isaac, Charlton, and William settled in the present West Village Church community (1830's). Of these children, Benjamin P. Reid married Hannah Willis, daughter of Judith (Weir) and Wright W. Willis, and had Andrew, William, Benjamin S., Oliver, Mary, Havillah, Francis, Dr. Horace, Henry, Richard, Christopher, Edwin, Wright, and Leigh Reid who married Julia Malissa Bond, they are Walter L. Reid's paternal grandparents.

. . . Their son Benjamin Prall Reid (1820-1907) and wife Hannah (Willis) had 14 children; of these, Havillah Reid (1848-1923) and German born wife, Dora (Jenrig), were Dora (Reid) Fieber's grandparents. Rieth changed to Rith, Reed, Reid.
