Text: John N. Michels, son of George and Susanna Michels, was born 24 May 1796 in Clinton, Maine. See James J. Michels history for information concerning his migration to Edwards County, Illinois. On 23 August 1819, about a year after their arrival in Edwards County, he married Sarah (Getchell) Michels, widow of his brother James Michels. His ready made family from her first marriage consisted of Sarah, Sumner, Lucinda and Randal. See James Michels History. The children of John and Sarah (Getchell) Michels were: James S.; John, born 3 July 1822; Susanna, born 3 July 1824, married a Pantry; Pender, born July 1826; and Harriett, born 19 August 1828; married a Brandon.
.... Sarah (Getchell) Michels died 8 November 1829 and John N. Michels married his second wife, Isebella Naylor. They were married in a double ring ceremony at the Park House (owned by the Flower Family) with her sister Eliza, who married Jonathan Briggs, on 1 January 1833-5. Isabella and Eliza were daughters of Robert and Elizabeth (Bobbitt) Naylor of England. The children of John and Isabella Michels were: Elizabeth, died in infancy, Eliza, born 5 December 1836, married Benjamin Schmeley of Burlington County, New Jersey and had children Morgan, Carrie, John and Albert; Wilbur Fiske Michels, born 18 March 1839, married Sarah Mitchell; and Moses, born 8 May 1841.

Text: p. 4: John Michaels took out a marriage license with Sally Michaels on 20 Aug 1819. They celebrated their marriage on 22 Aug 1819 by John Depew, J. P. They returned their certificate for filing on 10 Nov 1819.
p. 21: John MIchels was married to Isabella Naylor on 31 Jan 1833 by Hiram Keach.

Text: ..... Sarah Michels, daughter of James and Sarah Michels, was born 2 September 1807. She married James Dewhirst, Jr. and had twelve children: Elizabeth, born 9 March 1826, died at age 21; James Jr., born 9 March 1828; David, born 11 February1830, died of typhoid at age 31; George, born 25 November 1831, died of typhoid at age 30; Mary, born 27 October 1833, married Thomas Hall; Joseph, born 24 January 1836; Thomas, born 10 January 1838, married Serene Delzell, both died of typhoid in 1862; Solomon, born 10 September 1841, marrried Eliza Bacon Hamilton; Sarah, born 20 August 1843, married Solomon Conley; Eliza, born 1 February 1846; and Harriet, born 13 November 1848, married Warren Hocking. Sarah Michels Dewhirst died 22 November 1880.
