Hi Judith, I was looking at some Civil War soldier's records yesterday and their pensions, and I ran across a William H. Tyner living in Indian Territory (Oklahoma). He received a pension until he died, then his wife received a pension until her death. That's why I asked.
When we were in Nashville last summer, we found a Dennis Barnes buried in Union Grove Cemetery East, McNairy County, TN. His tombstone read 10 May 1819 to 11 Nov 1903.
